What can I expect during my first appointment?

Your initial evaluation is a safe space to share your story. We’ll discuss your history, current challenges, and goals. By the end of the session, we’ll work together to create a personalized roadmap for your mental wellness.

Do I have to take medication?

Not necessarily. While medication is a powerful tool for many, it is not a requirement. We focus on a holistic approach, which may include lifestyle adjustments, therapy, referrals, and collaborative decision-making.

Do you accept insurance?

We strive to make care accessible. We currently accept many insurers. Please see our Insurance page for specifics. If we are out-of-network for you, we can provide a “superbill” for potential reimbursement from your insurer.

How do I handle refills?

Refills are typically managed during your scheduled follow-up appointments. If you need a bridge between visits, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance.

What if I’m having a crisis?

Serene Psychiatry is not an emergency service. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or head to the nearest emergency room.
